Chapter 8

Chapter 8
Will it Help?...
Shurit Will.

“Hang on please!” I yelled to the Brawlers. “Where is the Drum you guys?”
“Never!!!” Jacob replied.
“Then you will die!” said the Warlord.
“No, wait! If I can find the Drum, will you let them go?” I said frantically.
“If you bring me the Drum, I will free them.”
“Where is it guys?” I yelled.
“Here is the map to find it. It’s kind of a knee slapper. Hehe.” Chris said with a smile.
He handed me the map, which was drawn out on an old scroll. I opened it and realized it was a map of the Superheavy Hills. About a mile away from where we are now sat a big red X. As I peered across the hand drawn map, I took a look to see what I would be heading through to get to the X. I noticed that I would go straight through the path of the flutist. Merlin was right. That means I had to be prepared for the rest of the prophecy. The Ojamas and the boy with two different colored eyes. So, I quickly gathered my thoughts and said
I will bring you the Drum, and we will leave this place, for good.”
I started off to the west from the dojo, and caught a glimpse of the trio hiding in a bush along the path ahead. This was good. I had seen them first, and now I have the advantage. I dived into the bamboo on the side of the path and crept towards them as quietly as I could. In my line of sight, I saw a kid walking straight towards the trio on the path. He had the Drum in his hands. As he got closer I noticed his eyes. They were two different colors. Wow, this is such an eerie feeling. Seeing all that Merlin said come true. It was truly the ultimate form of Déjà vu. He had no idea that he was walking into a trap. A twig cracked as he stepped in front of the bush, but before he could pull his sword, they jumped him. They quickly wrapped him up in the vines hanging from the trees. He was immobilized. All of the sudden, the sound of a flute whispered through the air like the breeze had carried it purposely in our direction. The Ojamas panicked, tripping over one another like there was an oil slick on the ground. They looked so afraid. I had never imagined the Ojamas would ever be afraid of anything. They managed to get away. I paused, holding my breath as the sound of the flute stopped. I waited for a few seconds to see if the flutist would appear, but nothing else happened. I laid my hand upon one of the trees beside me and whispered to it, saying,
Loosen your vines my friend.” The young boy was free
“Thanks guy.” He said as he saw me stand up. “My name is Shurit. I’m of the Nekroz clan.”
“Nice to meet you Shurit. I am Levi, the Flowerknight of the Sylvans. This, my friend, couldn’t have worked out any better. You have the Drum and I have the mirror that Merlin sent for you.”
You have the Nekroz Mirror? Then take this.” He handed me the Drum, and something else wrapped in leather. I started to unravel the piece of rustic brown leather. Inside was a very small silver and white wing.
“That is a Harpie’s Feather Duster. You can use it to summon a Harpie at your disposal.”
This is amazing! I had heard of summoners before, but never dreamed I would even see one, and now I had one.
“Make sure you firmly grasp it in your hand. FIRMLY GRASP IT!!!” He yelled as he slammed my hands shut on the very sharp piece of Metal.
“Ouch!”
Out of nowhere, a Mist Bird Clausolas swooped down and attacked Shurit. He didn’t go for his sword to fend off the Monster, instead he started chanting. He held his sword and the Nekroz Mirror together in the air and they started to fuse together. The sword and mirror were now as one. Above the handle of the sword was now the resting place of the mirror. It started to glow as the Mist Bird came back for another dive at Shurit. However, when the bird got close to him, Shurit held out his sword and the chanting stopped. Within a second, the bird flew right into the mirror and Shurit started to rise slowly into the air. The chanting picked up again, but this time it wasn’t him who was chanting. It sounded like a group of older men saying the same phrase repeatedly. He started to shine like the sun. When the light had stopped, he landed on his feet and arose with a new armor. His armor appeared to be made from the Mist Bird Clausolas. It was breathtaking. By far the coolest armor, I had ever seen. It had seemed like he was a hunter and the armor was now his trophy of his recent kill. It was astonishing how this young boy was so skilled in the art of rituals. I had no idea that the mirror had that kind of power.
“And that is how it is done.” said Shurit.
“I am deeply impressed.” I replied.
“Well you see I don’t know if you know much about my people, but we are scattered across the land of Yu-Gi-Oh. It is our job to contain some of the most vial monsters.” Said Shurit.
“I see. So are there a lot of you?” I questioned him with a look of confusion.
“No. there are only a few.” He answered.
“Well it was nice to have met you Shurit. But I must be on my way. My friends need my help.”
“Goodbye Levi.” He said in a sincere voice.
As I started to walk away, I yelled back, “Maybe we will catch up one day.”
Shurit looked back, and replied “Maybe.” He smiled, then disappeared into a shroud of Mist.
It wasn’t long until I had reached the small hut that the red X was marking on the scroll. The feint whistle of a flute was floating like the calm breeze. Lotus petals fell to the ground from the trees above. Straight ahead was the Flutist, whom was standing inside the doorway of the open hut. He said,
“I have something for you Levi.” I quickly realized that I already had the Drum.
Wow, I cannot believe I came here after I already had what I needed.” I replied. But what does he have for me? I wondered.
“It is in that chest.” Said the Flutist as he looked towards the back of the hut. I walked forward to the chest and slowly opened it. As if there was a building music heading towards a climax. A golden light appeared from inside the box! It was a staff…
“What’s this for?” I asked
“It is a magical staff, which belongs to a Lightsworn by the name of Roger,” replied the Flutist.
“Where can I find this Roger?”
“In the Temple of the Sacred Ones. It resides in the Athletic City. Better known as U.A. city.”
“Okay great,” I said sarcastically.
He played his flute, and instantly I was in a different room. It was the Warlord’s dojo! Susanowa saw me and said
“Ah, your back.”
“Help! They tortured us for days!” Cried Jacob and Chris.
It’s only been an hour and you seem fine.” I replied.
“Oh…” Said Jacob.
I handed The Warlord the Drum. He pulled me closer to him and said, “Thank you. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever seen a rat the size of a Dachshund? From a huge hole in the corner of the room, a Giant Rat appeared with a skull in its hand. He was at least a fourth of the size of me.
“The rats here are huge!” yelled Chris.
Susanowa pulled out a Soulpiercer and shot the rat right in the chest. It squeaked very loudly and fell to the ground, now lifeless. We could see the soul of the rat trying to ascend to the heavens, but the arrow was holding it back. Susanowa grabbed the soul with a Soulclaw and trapped it within the Drum. Hthen untied the guys with one shot from the bow, barely missing them.
“Be gone!” He yelled. We all scattered down the hill and right through the Wall of Ivy.
I’m sorry for what happened Levi.” Said Chris.
It’s okay you guys.” I replied. “But now I have to continue on my quest. I’ve gotta find Roger.”
They both looked at me very puzzled, and Jacob said, “Who?”
“Roger. Apparently he is a Lightsworn who lives in the Temple of the Sacred Ones, inside the U.A. city.”
Welp. Were out.” Said Jacob.
“Okay you guys. It’s been fun and it’s been real, but it hasn’t been real fun.”
“What an odd thing to say,” Chris said as he giggled.
“May we meet again one day, I replied.
“Maybe, but I doubt it,” Jacob said with a smile.
They took off towards the mountains in the east and disappeared from my view shortly after.
I was on the next phase of my quest, taking one step at a time. I wondered what new friends I would encounter on the road ahead. Odds are, I will run into someone very soon. Simply because, about all I have done so far on this trip is run into people. I continued to walk straight into a small forest. The air was thick, with an occasional buzz of an insect nearby. Naturally, I would swat them away from my head. I noticed one hovering in front my face, so I slowly lifted my hands to clap him to death. “Smack!” I looked at my hand to find that the bug wasn’t even a bug after all. It was a wyrm with a grey under belly and blue skin made completely of tiny flowers. I opened up an old journal I had kept in my satchel from my days in Sylvan school. There it was, a Lindbloom. So cool, but so tiny.
There was an amazing view of the sky through the treetops in this forest and a surrounding sound that was like a million particles of diamonds falling from the sky. As if the stars were crying tears of crystals. It was still slightly light outside, but the sun was slipping over the horizon. With a shade of bubblegum pink and a soft purple in the sky, I started to dream of the love that I longed for. About what I would say and do when I saw her again. I think I might smooch her on sight. Or maybe, tell her I love her and take her into my arms. Nope, I will look at her and smoothly say, “Girl, you lookin fine today.” Yeah that would for sure get me some smoochin action.
As it started to get dark, I realized that the forest started glowing like a rainbow of neon lights. Each plant started to glow in a different way and color. Greens, blues, oranges, purples and pinks. The small forest was almost as bright as daylight. A white and teal rabbit appeared, with a diamond shaped ruby on its forehead. It had a plant growing on its back, and butterflies following the plant, like it was their home. I pulled out my trusty dusty journal and looked through it quickly.
“Ah there it is.” I said. “It’s a Kalantosa, Mystical beast of the forest.
From a short distance, a soft red flame appeared. It moved behind a tree and then a bush, and then tip toed a little closer. It was a red fox, also known as a Fox Fire, according to my journal. My favorite animal was the red fox. They were sly, yet refined. The Fox Fire crept up to the rabbit and went to grab him. “Bam!” a Ronintoadin landed right between them and locked his eyes on the fox with laser focus. The toad, with his hand on his grass blade was ready to strike the fox with swift power. The fox swung his arm and said, “Ah, man.” I chuckled slightly and noticed a small watering hole under a tree to my right. Another frog like monster was standing on the water. This one was a dark purple, with a blue under belly and a horn like a unicorn. It bolted through the forest in the opposite direction of myself. Something spooked the poor animal. I had the feeling at that moment as if something had its eyes on me. I squinted and looked into the tree above the watering hole. A beast was sitting on the limb above. I struggled through my journal in excitement. I found him! The beast was a Koala-Koala. Looked like he worked out. Often. His eyes were red like a cherry. A very mad cherry.
