Chapter 6
The Round Table
Decisions, decisions. I glided across the sidewalk with class and style. A loud thundering noise flew right over the top of the city. I looked up to find the Mecha Phantom Beasts rocketing overhead with extreme power. The class and style turned into shaky legs and clumsiness. As I came to realize that I was okay, and wasn’t being attacked by a swarm of bees, I looked to the horizon for direction. I re-decided to go towards my original goal, the Noble Knights castle. The edge of the city was creeping up on me. The sun was setting, the sky was cloudy, and I couldn’t help but continue to think about Burstinatrix. However, I knew I had to continue on my journey. It was something that must be done. I stopped right at the edge of town, and turned to get one last look at the city. On top of the tallest skyscraper, I could see her. She blew me a kiss and I knew I would see her again, someday soon.
“One foot after the other, with my mind on my honey, and my honey on my… ‘Ooof!’”
“Watch where you’re going, little man!” Said a tall dark fellow.
He was dressed in black and red, with two silver blades on his wrists. He also had a large blade on his side, which he put his hand on and got super serious.
“You Fiend!” I thought. I wouldn’t dare say it to him. He would probably kill me right there.
Then he looked down at me and said, “Got ya! Hahaha. Hello, my good sir. My name is Jacob, and the ruby red eyed fellow to your right is my brother Chris Carbuncle.”
“Are you pulling my leg? You guys can’t be brothers. You look nothing alike.”
Jacob then laughed and Chris giggled in a very jolly way. “You see, our mother was from the Crystal Empire, and our father was a visitor from somewhere else.”
“Ask him Gorz.” Said Chris softly, as he nudged his brother.
“My friend we are on our way to the Machine hills. Past the Noble Knights castle. And the reason we are talking to you, is because we need your help.”
“So why me?” I asked. “Well, we saw that you are a Sylvan, and we need someone who can speak to plants to get us through the Wall of Ivy. Which, kind of blocks the way to the Superheavy domain.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” I said. “Superheavy Domain? That’s a heavily defended area. Why do you need to go there?”
Chris jumped up, and said, “That’s our business! Sorry…I mean we have some business to attend to.”
Jacob had a look of despair upon his face as he said, “Will you help us? We will pay you well.”
I had to think about my quest. “I could use protection, and some company so…You have yourselves a deal. But, I have a favor to ask you. Instead of a payment of money, I need you to get me into the Noble Knights castle.”
“I think we can be of service to you as well.” Jacob replied. “But we need to stop at my grandma’s house first. She made a cheesecake.”
Oh boy… at this rate, I may never make it to my destination.
A short way out of the city sat a little cottage. It looked like it was made out of cookie puzzle pieces. They opened the door and an old woman popped out.
“Welcome! My two favorite grandsons! Oh! And who is this handsome young redhead?”
“Oh, this is our Sylvan friend Levi.” said Chris. As I got a better look at their grandmother, I realized she was a Marmalmaide from the Madolche Chateau. Slightly older and greyer though. The cheesecake was phenomenal. It was a normal cheesecake, but it was topped with a delightfully fluffy lemon meringue and raspberries. I started to get a piece and then I heard a toilet flush… The door swings wide open, and guess who it is… Link.
“Sup” he said.
He walked up to the table and grabbed the whole cheesecake, then jetted out of the back door, jumped on his Fortune Tune and headed to the east. I looked back to where the cheesecake once was, there was now a letter with my name on it. The letter opened on its own and read,
I’m still watching bro. A.K.
I have met some of the most peculiar people. I don’t know whether to be creeped out or happy knowing that Aussie might save me again. So we got up, said goodbye, and went on our way. We traveled for a good two days, camping out in the wasteland. Getting to know each other better along the way. Late one evening, we strolled upon a tall throne chair with an unexplainable being sitting on top. He was looking down upon about a hundred people. All of them were dressed in robes with their head covered by a hood. A few of the guards pushed a man in front of the chair. The dastardly being atop the throne said,
“Sir Carrot. You have been accused of treason against our great society. How do you plea?”
“I don’t care! This society will be taken down soon enough! Ha, ha, ha!” Said the small man.
“Enough!” in an earthshaking voice coming from the throne. “I have decided what to do about you.”
The crowd started chanting, “Banish him. Banish him. Banish him.”
All of the sudden, the chanting stopped. You could hear a pin drop.
“Banish him!” Screamed the being from the chair.
An evil laugh came from a void in space that had just opened up on the ground. “Blahaha!” as a demonic hand ripped through the void, and dragged Carrot in. The void then closed itself, as if it had never been there at all.
“Nope!” I said to the guys. We sprinted away and vowed to never speak of it again. At least until a hand popped out of the ground in front of us.
“AAAAAAHAHHHHHHHH!” screamed Chris.
The blue decayed hand was followed by an equally blue and decayed body, “I am called Justin, The Patrician of Darkness. I see you have just left the society of B.L.S. I call him Matt,”
“What does that stand for?” I said in wonder.
“Matthew, I think.” As he grinned.
“That’s not what I meant… What does B.L.S. stand for? Geeez.”
“Ohhhh.” As he continued with the instigating grin. “Black Luster Soldier.” He instantly dove into the ground.
Jacob happened to notice that Justin had gone back to B.L.S.’s throne and was whispering something in his ear, as he pointed towards us. We had to get out of here fast.
Finally, we had made it to the castle. The giant stonewalls were surrounded by a moat with a drawbridge centered between two torches. It was breathtakingly creepy.
“Whomest thou goest thereist?” Yelled someone from atop the castle walls.
“It is I, thouest… I mean, its Levi.”
“We have been expecting thouest Levi for quiteth some timeth. Thou presence is requiredeth at the roundest of tables.”
“Thank you, sir…?”
“Sir Enus! The gatekeeper!” he replied.
“Thank you Sir Enus, the gatekeeper.” I replied to his continually loud and annoying voice.
As we crossed the bridge to the gate of the castle, we came to a stairway at the end of the main corridor. It was dressed in stone and granite, with old paintings of the past kings on each side of the stairs. With a red carpet pathway hemmed in gold, overlaying the marble steps. We continued to the top to find the Round Table. The occupants of each chair appeared to be very tough. Each one being a knight of the highest caliber and at the end sat Merlin, The Grand Wizard. He spoke up, and said,
“We have awaited your arrival, young Flowerknight. The letter we received from Orea, explained everything. Go to the wooden chest in front of the stained glass window. We have a gift for you.”
