Chapter 3

Chapter 3
The Naturia Gates

“Smack!” my face met a muddy puddle. I looked up to find a short and stubby Mogmole standing over me. He spoke in a depressing way, and what sounded like his nose was stuffed up.
“Another someone to make less food around here. Oh, why don’t I just dig deeper and fall into a bottomless hole.” He said
I picked myself up, while still in pain. “Do you know the way out of here?” I replied.
“Yeah, but what does it matter anyways. Because the M.E.B., is on its way here as we speak. I don’t think you could make it out, even if you did get past it.”
“What is an M.E.B. anyways?”
“It’s just a Man-Eater Bug, but why do I care. Were all probably gonna die soon anyways.”
Then it hit me. Those things are notorious for eating hundreds of men. Hence the name Man-Eater Bug.
I needed to get out of here, and fast. I started to shuffle my legs, which felt like jelly from lying on the ground in that weird position. I started to run, and then the mole said,
“You don’t want to go that way, nope. Turn around and take a left.”
“Thanks mole guy.”
“I’m a girl… I didn’t expect you to pay attention though. Most people are just too stupid to notice.”
You’re just a bundle of joy, aren’t you?” I sarcastically replied.
Therefore, I followed his, I mean “her” instructions and ran down the cave. I could hear the mole mumbling something as I ran further away,
“At least he didn’t keep going that way. He would have made it to the surface. It’s dreadful up there.”
I ran right Into the M.E.B.. His mouth was wide open with drool flowing out like a fountain. There was little light shining from above, but not nearly enough to see. Darkness ensued the majority of the cave, and I had no idea where to run. All of the sudden, a ball of brown fur fell from a hole in the ceiling of the cave. It landed right between me and the bug. It uncurled itself and stood up. The little guy was very small. He didn’t have a chance. The Man-Eater Bug lunged forward and bit the creature. It let out a high pitched cry of anguish. But when the M.E.B opened its mouth, light exploded, as if a bomb had went off right in its face. The insect disintegrated into a pile of ashes on the wet cave floor. As the fur ball died, its body had started to float. Then a set of small white wings emerged from its back. It woke up. I was very confused, but thankful that the little thing had saved me. It looked at me, and with a soft but chipper voice it said,
“My name is AussieI’m a Kuriboh. I was once the first form of our kind, but now you have helped me ascend to the next level. I am eternally grateful to you for letting me save your life. That is the only way to ascend.”
“Thank you? And I am the one who should be grateful to you for your help. If it wasn’t for you, I would be dead meat. Oh, and do you think you could help me get out of this tunnel?” I replied.
“Sure! Grab on to my feet.”
As we started to ascend through a hole in the ground of the forest floor, I told him about my story, about the Ojamas, and about how I needed to get to Orea on the citadel. He was very understanding as he said,
“I will take you to Orea right now my friend. It’s the least I can do for you helping me.”
“Oh, I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is Levi.”
He smiled and replied with, “I know.” I was puzzled by his response.
“I have been watching you for quite some time. I have to pick someone that looks like they might need to be saved, for me to ascend. So, when I saw you I said, ‘Man! This is my guy!’.”
I’m glad he couldn’t see my face. It was a look of irritation and annoyance. But it was okay, because we both laughed about it.
“What were we talking about?” said Aussie, right in the middle of the laugh.
If I were on the ground, I would have fallen on my face.
As we arrived at the citadel on Mount Sylvania, I couldn’t help but ponder the question of where to look first for the Ojamas. Should I travel west to the coast of Umi, or maybe east to the Dragons Domain, but what about the southern hemisphere of our world? There’s a lot to see and everywhere to search. I landed on the silver stone floor on the side of the mountain. As I lofted my head, admiring the silver stonework, I noticed a beautiful staircase heading towards a fountain. Everything was completely engulfed in a bright silver shine. It had almost appeared that they had captured thousands of silver stars and coated the stone with them. Even the water had a mesmerizing look. Above the back of the fountain sat the Great Orea, “The Sylvan High Arbiter”. She sat upon a nest made of, you guessed it, Silver. She had several vibrant colors, and a blue and silver pendant hanging from her neck. Then Aussie spoke up
Wow! She sure is Purdy. Well, thanks again Levi. I’ll be seeing you.”
As he started to fly away, he looked at Orea and said, “Bye girl.” From what I could tell, she started to blush and then she winked at him, as he disappeared into the clouds. The Great Orea became serious and said,
“I have been expecting you, Levi. Your quest is a bold one. So, I will allow you passage through the gates of Naturia.”
I thanked her with all I could and then she let out a sharp screeching sound. Almost like what you think a large bird would sound like. Off in the distance a bird in the sky had heard the call. It was flying right towards us. It was a Fortune Tune, which was one of the Numbers. Number 49 to be exact. The numbers were monsters that paired up with normal beings from our world. I had never seen one of them before, only had I heard of them. As it landed I realized it had someone on its back. It was a Messengelato. He handed me a letter, and just as I started to open itOrea spoke up
“This is a friend of mine, from the Madolche kingdom. His name is Link, and he is a post man for the rulers of Yu-Gi-Oh…”
For those of you who do not habla Espanol, El Yu-Gi-Oh is Spanish for, The Yu-Gi-Oh. Ha, what was I thinking? My mind is very creative, and lost. Making up words like “Spanish”. What is going on? Oh! Orea is talking. I had better listen.
“…So good luck Levi. And I will send any news I have with Link here.”
With her massive leg, she wrapped her talons around a silver rod, which was stuck right through her nest. Right before she pulled the lever, I questioned her,
Orea, before I go, thank you. Also, what would be the quickest way down the mountain?”……………”Click,” I fell right through the floor onto a Sylvan Waterslide.
I splashed all the way to the bottom of the slide, and finally landed in a pond at the base of Mount Sylvania. As my head popped up out of the water, I looked around to get a hold of myself. I noticed Lotuswain guiding his boat through the water. He is a Sylvan of not so many words. Awe and look there is a little Marshalleaf imitating him. Those little guys are adorable. Lotuswain pointed to the Sagequoia, and so did Marshalleaf. I love it how he imitates him. Anyways, I pulled myself out of the water and sprinted towards the mighty Sagequoia. When I got there, he said,
“Looking for a way to the gate?”
”Yes. I am looking for the quickest way to the gate.” I replied.
“Climb up to the top young Sylvan.”
I made my way up his wide branches, straight to the top. Hstarted to sway violently, back and forth. He finally catapulted me through the air like a rocket. I was being made a Sylvan bullet, and I wondered how I would land. It probably wouldn’t be softly, quietly, or even fun, but it would probably hurt. A lot. All of the sudden, a sort of magic slowed me down and set me on the ground. I was at the Naturia gate. Finally, I was going to start my adventure. But first, I had to show the seal of approval to these two Naturia gatekeepers.
